Summer in the Lungau
Step outside and breathe in the fresh clear air and decide what to do, here in one of the sunniest and prettiest parts of Austria. In summer you are at the start of numerous valley walks, mountain hikes, cycle rides or you can simply sit in the garden, sunbathe and take in the view. Here you can get away from the hectic modern world you live in and allow yourself time to enjoy some quiet, and a slower pace of life; just relax and refresh. Our door is open for you from June to mid-October; each month has something different to offer.
June is a lovely month for valley walks and cycle rides, the flowers are starting to bloom, and trees come into leaf. During June, the International Choir festival is held and also the International Murtal Lauf (run or walk, marathon or shorter distance, categories for all ages).
July and August are perfect for all activities. All the mountain huts are open serving food and drink and there are weekly traditional musical events. Flowers are abundant and the alpine pastures echo to the sound of the cow bells. The weather can be quite Mediterranean, just right for sunbathing and swimming at one of the beautiful outdoor pools or lakes, and also providing lovely warm evenings for dining out and watching the sun set.
September through to October is harvest festival time so there are still traditional events to enjoy and with cooler temperatures and clear blue skies, it is perfect for high mountain hikes and stunning panoramic views.
