Walking holiday

For all ages and abilities, we will find something to make your holiday special

Our Walking Holiday package is for groups of four people or more, with a designated group leader. We’ve lived here since 2010 and know the area well and we’ll work personally with the group leader to tailor the holiday itinerary to the group’s needs and have the flexibility to discuss and make changes whilst you are here.

For groups who want to self-guide, we can discuss and create an itinerary with the group leader prior to your arrival, or we can discuss and advise daily, once you are here.

Our Walking Holiday package includes your transport from and to Salzburg airport or train station and all transport whilst you are here, along with maps and information about the walk, your accommodation and most of your meals; all you need to do is book your flight, see our ‘Getting Here’ page.

An itinerary will include guided walks on 5 days and a ‘free’ day to enjoy your own self-guided walk or an activity of your choice (most activities are free with the Lungau card). How much walking is included in the itinerary is entirely down to you; for example, out walking all day, or a daily leisure walk to include the local sites and attractions.

For anyone who does not want to join the group on any given day there is always the option of a self-guided walk or activity or a day relaxing in the house or garden.

About the walks and the area

Our Lungau area is a walker’s paradise with a wide network of well signed paths that include a great choice of gentle, moderate and challenging walks, often with the choice of all three levels from the same start and finishing points, providing a variety of options that cater well for mixed ability groups. There is something here for everyone, including those that do not wish to walk.

You can take a gentle stroll through an enchanting Lungau forest, a beautiful flower filled valley walk to the foot of the impressive Niedere Tauern Mountains, trek up through shady forests and cool off in the spray of gushing waterfalls or hike up (or take the easier route of a gondola ride) to one of the sixty mountain lakes and various peaks rising to over 2,000 meters, where you can enjoy stunning views of the mountain ranges that make up the Salzburg Alps; the choice is yours. Along every route you will find a traditional mountain tavern (even at 2000 m high) where you can sit and enjoy something to eat and drink.

Other summer activities

As well as the numerous lovely walks there are many other activities and traditional events you can enjoy, all of them free or discounted with the Lungau card.
